This object is the mask of a rabbit. It represents a period of my life in which I was very much in love with a girl. I loved her very much.

Because of life circumstances, she had to go live in Barcelona. We were together as a couple for 3 years and the rabbit was a graphic code between us. After her departure for Barcelona, we tried to maintain the relationship over the Internet. We were spent something like two years without seeing each other. It was a very difficult time. I was here in the city of México and she was there in Barcelona. We were both new to our cities. The only things that were left to maintain our relationship were emails, letters and phone calls.

After two years she could come to México and we saw each other in the city of México and the meeting was at the Zócalo. The same day that I was going to see her, I went to see a play that was called Rabbit 401. In this play, the main character was using a mask like this one and it reminded me of the code that we use to have between us. I bought the mask and at the moment of my meeting with her, I put it on and she recognized me immediately, even though it had been two years that we had not seen each other.

We were together for 3 days and it was wonderful because I realized that I was still very much in love with her. I was also feeling that she still loved me, and that there was possibilities for our relationship to work out. But after the three days, she revealed the real motives of her visit to México. Apart from visiting her family, she was coming to say goodbye to her friends and dear ones. She has met someone in Barcelona and she was going to get married.

This mask is like a souvenir of these feelings. At the moment that I saw this project, I thought that it was a good moment to end the era of the rabbit. Today, I am no longer a rabbit; I am now a stray dog.
