Araceli L.

Araceli L. gave me this doll on Tuesday August 4th 2009.

Araceli L. speaking:

This is a doll. It was the first doll that was given to me in order to collect others.

It was a gift from my aunt. Her name is the same than mine, her name is Araceli and she is the older sister of three. She was my godmother and I am the only woman from my mother’s family side. She gave it to me and for her the dolls are an important symbol because her father use to bring them back as a gift from travels. They are three women. She gave it to me and I started to collect them, because I like them a lot.

I want to give it away, because she is a very important person for me but now we are distant from one another. She loved me a lot but I think that now she doesn’t anymore. I believe this doll represents all what she was hoping for me. And we can’t be dolls all the time. We grow up.

This doll is the mother of all my dolls and I want to give it to you, I want to give it with all my love.

In Araceli's room.

Araceli told me that dolls were like babies, but even better, because they don't require any care.

After the recording, Araceli gave me earrings as a present.

Araceli lives far from the center, in the North of Mexico City.

As we left Araceli's house, we had a view on the Cerro del Chiquihuite, on which the antenna of Channel 40 use to be.
